The Story

Emerging from his many battles both a warrior of legendary proportions and a battle-weary man, Jason starts life anew in a distant land. But one day, unexpectedly a stranger arrives at his door, and makes a plea: "I want you to capture - no, kill the creature of darkness we have succeeded in producing."

The research facility she spoke of was located in the depths of a subterranean installation in a silent forest, undisturbed by human habitation. There it had been created, an amalgam life form, an assimilation of life and machine, of multiple organic species, whose base structure was a tissue sample. A tissue sample harvested by the lab from the subterranean life form that Jason was supposed to have destroyed.

Exploiting its own astounding reproductive powers in the region underground forbidden to the human race, the life form was apparently hollowing out subterranean niches in the image of its old haunts.

The decision to reactivate SOPHIA The 3rd seems to Jason nothing more than an inevitability.

"Back into the cold - after all."

For SOPHIA The 3rd as for himself, war is the only design and destiny...

His decision to reactivate Sofia is inevitable if he hopes to destroy his enemy. With a full range of weapons and 8 unique levels to conquer, Blaster Master brings all the excitement of this classic to Game Boy Color!"

Nintendo Power Update!
There are extra upgrades that can be found. They are not needed, but they can help. The Crasher, which increases SOPHIA's cannon, and the Hybrid Armour, which increases the damage SOPHIA can take. Stage 2 - Engine Upgrade - Makes SOPHIA stronger so she can travel through wind tunnels
Stage 3 - Hover - Hover plays a much bigger role this time around

Stage 7 - Wall 2 - Lets SOPHIA climb ceilings
Levels of the Underworld:
As you can tell by the stage names, BMEB will have a very wide variety in level designs. This should help give each stage a look and feel of it's own so as to keep the repetition down.

Stage 3 - The Factory
Stage 4 - The Sewers
Stage 5 - The Secret River
Stage 6 - The Ice Station
Stage 7 - The Caverns

From the CGI shots in the review, you can see that SOPHIA is has gone through a few minor changes. (I will have pictures of this soon) And the number 02 is written on it a few times. I take this as Jason and Eve tinkered around with SOPHIA enough to change the build number. But it still remains as the same Make and Model. SOPHIA The 3rd, Nora MA-02.

Nintendo.com has posted a review about BMEB.
BMEB will have a password feature.

IGN Pocket has posted a preview of BMEB.
They say there will be 8 levels. Some new things, and some old. This is a NES remake, just shifted around some. This is a quote from the IGN preview.
"
The game takes place after the last Blaster Master -- you play Jason, called in to reprise his role as alien exterminator after an alien hybrid escapes into the woods untouched and unexplored by any human. The creature infestates the forest with its offspring as it digs subterranian tunnels into the earth. It’s up to you and your craft, the SOFIA_III, to locate this being and put an end to its evil."

Gamespot has received new info and screen shots about BMEB.

Quote taken from the Nintendo Power, Paq Watch.
"
Quietly but steadily Sunsoft has been building up an impressive library of titles for the Gameboy Color. The most ambitious to date has its roots in the company's 8-bit past. Blaster Master first appeared for the NES back in 1988. Now the game is appearing on GBC. It tells the story of a boy named Jason and his pet frog, Fred, who become seperated in a toxic world. The player rolls around in side-scrolling and overhead stages in a cool little tank that jumps, blasting mutants and searching for Fred. You can even hop out of the tank in places. Collecting new weapons and abilities is another part of the fun. Sunsoft has recreated the look, feel, and fun of the original Blaster Master in this Gameboy Color version, and we consider both games to be classics."

here for a scan of the article, it also contains screen shots.

There will be 8 levels, with a huge Underboss guarding the end of each one.

Jason appears to have a new look, and a more stylish helmet.

The game will be a side scroller like the NES version.

The next Gameboy Color game will likely take place right after the original game. The enemy was not from another planet, nor was it created naturally. Scientists that studied samples from the creatures that Jason killed before, created this new threat. Jason must now venture to the same places he cleared out before to finish off this enemy.

No other info is known at this time.
